Lt Col William Magee

Lt Col William D. Magee assumed command of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 310 at LSU in July. He is responsible for leadership and administration of the Air Force ROTC program; preparation, education, and training of ninety-three cadets for active duty; instruction of two college courses in USAF Foundations and Leadership; and representation of the USAF to the University and people of southern Louisiana. Welcome Back Jambalaya

Cadets of the Ole War Skule welcomed members the LSU Corps of Cadets and Cadre at a jambalaya dinner on Sept. 1 at the ROTC Building. “It was the probably the largest crowd we have ever had for this event,” said John Milazzo, president and chief jambalaya chef. “Everything flowed smoothly from beginning to end, and that could not have happened without our many dedicated volunteers.”

Senior Symposium

Fifteen cadets and midshipmen took part in inaugural sessions of the Ole War Skule Senior Symposium. The yearlong program for select ROTC seniors at LSU and Southern University is designed to prepare the future officers for leadership assignments and responsibilities after graduation. The first session, Military Justice/ Ethics and the UCMJ, was held on Aug. 24. Panel members included Judge and Navy Captain Mike McDonald, Army Colonel and local attorney John Dunlap, and Judge and AF Major (retired ) Luke LaVergne. On Sept. 21, Maj Eric Mehrtens, currently on active duty assignment presented Social Media Footprint and the Internet. All presenters are graduates of LSU. Senior Symposium is cosponsored by Cadets of the Ole War Skule in cooperation with the ROTC Cadre. LSU military alumni play a key role in the new venture, sharing what they have experienced and learned during military journeys.
