LSU Marks Memorial Day

The University honored its military deceased on May 30 in the rotunda of Memorial Tower. The annual observance, sponsored by LSU and Cadets of the Ole War Skule, began as the Tower chimes struck noon and included a presentation of arms, the laying of a wreath, and the playing of Taps. A luncheon followed in the north wing. LSU Provost Richard Koubek spoke on behalf of the University, and Skip Bertman, former baseball coach and athletic director, gave the keynote address.


Foil named Appellate Judge

Louisiana State Rep. Franklin Foil, of Baton Rouge, was selected to serve as an appellate judge at the Navy and Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals in Washington, D.C. Foil currently serves as a judge in the U.S. Navy Reserve, where he also is a captain. He has been a trial judge in the Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps since 2013 and a naval officer for 26 years. As an appellate military judge, he will be responsible for reviewing all Navy and Marine Corps cases that are appealed worldwide.


American Legion Elects First Woman National Commander

LSU, Southern ROTC Units Welcome New Leaders

• Lt Col William D. Magee assumed the position of LSU Commandant of Cadets in July. Magee was named Professor of Aerospace Studies at LSU in July 2016.

• MAJ Rian Carter was recently named Professor of Military Science at LSU.
