The Louisiana State University that we know today had its beginning in the remote community of Pineville, Louisiana, on January 2, 1860, just before the Civil War erupted. The Louisiana Seminary of Learning and Military Academy, as it was known then, provided classical education, discipline, a sense of honor and dedication for the Cadets. The heritage of honor, leadership and sacrifice for the Long Purple Line lives on today at LSU – the Ole War Skule.
