LSU and Cadets of the Ole War Skule will pay tribute to veterans and military retirees during LSU Salutes activities Nov. 3-5.  LSU Board of Supervisors Chair, Valencia Jones and W. Henson Moore, President of Cadets of the Ole War Skule, will join LSU President William Tate, IV in welcoming our veterans and other guests to the University for LSU Salutes.

The late retired Army Col. Hubert E. Nolde, of Leesville, La., will be inducted into the Hall of Honor, the university’s highest recognition of military service, during the Annual Assembly on Nov. 5 at the LSU War Memorial on the Parade Ground. The event is open to the public. MG Todd B. McCaffrey and BG Cindy H. Haygood will join President William F. Tate and Lt. Col. Lisa O’Neil, Commandant, on the reviewing team for the Pass in Review.

The inductee will be honored on Friday, Nov. 4. at the Commandant’s Luncheon in the LSU Student Union Ballroom and at the President’s Reception/LSU Salutes Dinner at the LSU Faculty Club. BG Cindy H. Haygood will deliver the guest speaker at the Commandant’s Luncheon, and MG Todd B. McCaffrey will deliver the keynote address at the dinner.

The honoree will be recognized during pre-game activities at the LSU vs. Alabama football game in Tiger Stadium, and the Tiger Marching Band will present a “Patriotic Salute” during the half-time show. 

LSU Salutes recognizes all veterans, in particular those who attended LSU and served in ROTC. The Hall of Honor inductee attended LSU, served in the military and was selected based on their involvement with the university as well as their military and community service. 

Participating in LSU Salutes events are members of the LSU Corps of Cadets, which includes LSU Army and Air Force ROTC students and Southern University Navy ROTC, which consists of LSU and Southern students.
